NEWS: RAW welcomes new property focussed electric vehicle charging grants

RAW welcomes the introduction of new landlord-focussed government grants aimed at increasing EV charging facilities in locations such as business premises and retail parks.

From April 1, 2022, business owners, landlords and retail park operators, can benefit from the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles’ (OZEV) Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS), which reduces the cost of purchasing and installing charging stations.

SMEs can access grants of up to £350 per socket towards the cost of a charging station, with a maximum of 40 grants per business available.

Owners of commercially let properties can access the same grants to install charging points for employee or fleet use of current, or future, business tenants with a limit of 100 applications per year per applicant.

Additional support is available for SME business park and retail park operators, with grants of up to £15,000 available per building towards the cost of installing electric vehicle charging points, with a maximum of five grants available.

Specialising in the delivery of charging solutions and infrastructure we are well placed to aid customers with our strategy of building one of the UK’s largest networks of EV chargers, focused exclusively on destination charging. Through our European Signature Partnership with ChargePoint®, operator of the world’s largest and most sophisticated network of over 111,000 connected chargers, we already have framework and management agreements with customers who own in excess of £100bn of commercial property in UK and Europe.

Bruce Galliford, CEO, RAW Charging, said:

“The commitment to electric vehicle charging by the Department for Transport will help the UK in the rapid electrification of the car parc. At RAW Charging, we have been working with landowners for the past five years to help deliver on their charging needs. We welcome the recent Government commitments and will continue to work with our customers as the UK transitions to a net zero future.”
