The OZEV EV Charging Grant Explained – What Can You Claim?
Whatever field you are in, you are likely able to utilise The Office for Zero-Emission Vehicles (OZEV) criteria for their home and workplace charge point schemes.
If you’re wondering if you’re eligible for financial support for EV charging installation at your office or residential property, here’s an overview.
What are the OZEV workplace grants for?
Through OZEV’s Workplace Charging Scheme, businesses can claim up to £350 per socket for up to 40 sockets. Totalling a huge potential saving of up to £14,000.
2022 has seen the Scheme branch out with funding to other businesses, including:
- B&Bs and small accommodation businesses
- SME’s
- Charities
- Owners of commercially let premises
So what criteria do the new schemes require?
For Workplaces:
+ A grant of up to £350 per socket
+ A maximum grant of £14,000
+ You must be registered with Companies House or have a VAT registration
+ The workplace must have private parking reserved for staff, or fleet use only
For small accommodation businesses & charities:
+ A grant of up to £350 per socket
+ A maximum grant of £14,000 with a limit of 40 applications
+ You must be a registered charity
+ If you’re an accommodation business, you can’t have more than 250 employees
+ You must have off-street parking available, with staff and visitors having access to the charge points
For owners of commercially let properties:
+ A grant of up to £350 per socket
+ A maximum grant of £35,000 with a limit of 100 applications
+ You must be a registered business or a public authority. If you’re a private entity, you need to be registered with Companies House, have a VAT registration, or be a private registered provider of social housing.
+ The property must be a commercially let unit and have associated parking with it.
+ The charge point must be installed in private parking space only available for staff or fleet use
For SMEs:
+ A grant of up to £850 per parking bay
+ A maximum grant of £15,000 per building, with a limit of 5 applications
+ A grant of £500 per bay can also be used to prep infrastructure for future charge points
+ You must be registered with Companies House or have a VAT registration
+ You can’t employ more than 250 people
+ The charge point must be installed with private parking
+ A minimum of 5 bays should be set aside for EV charging, but only 1 needs to have a charge point installed
From 2022, the OZEV grant scheme opens up to:
Building owners, including landlords and social housing providers
+ A grant of up to £350 per socket
+ A maximum grant of £70,000, with a limit of 200 applications
+ You must be a registered business or public authority. If you’re a private entity, you need to be registered with Companies House, have a VAT registration, or be a private registered provider of social housing.
+ The property must have associated private parking.
+ Within the overall maximum grant available, there isn’t a limit for the number of charge points you can install in each property.
Owners of apartment blocks
+ A grant of up to £30,000 per building
+ A limit of 30 applications per year, per applicant
+ The grant available per application will depend on how many parking bays can use a charge point socket
+ A grant of up to £850 is available per bay
+ A grant of £500 per bay can also be used to prep infrastructure for future charge points
+ You must be a registered business or a public authority. If you’re a private entity, you’ll need to be registered with Companies House, have a VAT registration, or be a private registered provider of social housing.
+ Within the overall maximum grant available, there isn’t a limit for the number of charge points you can install in each property.
+ A minimum of 5 bays should be set aside for EV charging, but only 1 needs to have a working charge point installed
