UK’s Largest Destination EV Charging Hub to Launch at Bluewater as Part of £24.5m Rollout with Landsec

RAW Charging is partnering with Landsec to deliver the UK’s largest destination EV charging hub at Bluewater, as part of a £24.5 million national rollout across some of the country’s most popular retail destinations.

The programme will deliver 1,000 new charging bays across 28 Landsec locations, comprising 554 AC fast chargers and 446 DC rapid chargers. Destinations include Bluewater, Gunwharf Quays, White Rose Shopping Centre and Brighton Marina, with several sites already live.

Ravenside Retail Park, Chesterfield, is one of the Landsec sites already live.

Designed to meet rising customer expectations, the network supports retailers and landlords by increasing dwell time, footfall and on‑site spend. By placing high‑quality charging at busy destinations, EV drivers can recharge while shopping, dining or enjoying leisure facilities - creating tangible benefits for both visitors and venues.

The long‑term, 20‑year partnership also includes a significant replace‑and‑upgrade programme, modernising existing charging infrastructure that no longer meets current standards for speed, reliability or accessibility. These upgrades will improve charge times, with some chargers delivering a meaningful top‑up within typical retail dwell times of 30 minutes to 1.5 hours, ensuring a best‑in‑class charging experience.

All chargers will be accessible via contactless payment and major EV charging apps, offering a seamless experience for every visitor. With Landsec destinations welcoming more than 20 million visitors each year, the portfolio is uniquely positioned to deliver EV charging at scale.

The expanding network already supports well‑known destinations including National Trust properties, Merlin Entertainments attractions such as LEGOLAND® Windsor and Alton Towers, McArthurGlen Designer Outlets, and several leading hotel groups - together powering more than 400,000 electric journeys each year.

With electric vehicles now accounting for one in four new vehicle sales in the UK, this partnership places both organisations at the forefront of sustainable retail innovation, meeting the needs of eco‑conscious visitors while delivering clear commercial value.

Neil Broadbank, Chief Commercial Officer, commented:
“We’re proud to partner with Landsec, whose retail and leisure destinations attract millions of visitors every year. Our EV charging hubs give drivers confidence to recharge on arrival, enhancing their experience and encouraging them to stay longer. This investment goes beyond infrastructure—it’s about connecting amazing places and supporting the UK’s transition to cleaner, greener transport.”

Ben Padley, Head of Consumer at Landsec, added:
“Our destinations are hubs for communities across the UK, welcoming millions of visitors each year. Creating exceptional experiences while supporting a more sustainable future is central to how we shape those places. As more drivers switch to electric, retail destinations have a clear responsibility to make charging simple, accessible and part of everyday life. Through this partnership, we’re embedding high‑quality, future‑ready EV infrastructure across our portfolio, including plans for what will become the UK’s largest destination charging hub at Bluewater. This long‑term investment strengthens our guest offer and provides convenient charging options for current and future EV drivers.”
