Last year’s World EV Day saw a record number of charges delivered across the network
Celebrating a Record-Breaking Year for EVs and Destination Charging
World EV Day is an opportunity to give back to the UK’s EV drivers and thank host partners for their continued commitment to sustainability. In 2024, the initiative saw a record number of charges delivered across the network, reflecting growing demand for reliable, accessible charging at the UK’s favourite destinations.
This year, free charging will be available at hundreds of Amazing Places, including over 30 National Trust locations, five Merlin Entertainments attractions such as Alton Towers Resort and LEGOLAND, six McArthurGlen Designer Outlets, more than 185 Greene King pubs, and a wide range of hotels across the UK. Destination chargers are designed to make charging simple, convenient and cost-effective, supporting the transition to cleaner transport while enhancing the visitor experience.

A Positive Outlook for the UK EV Market
The UK’s EV market continues to grow. In 2025, one in three new vehicles sold is electric or hybrid, and the Government remains committed to supporting the transition to zero-emission transport. The number of public chargepoints across the UK is increasing rapidly, with thousands of new chargers being installed every month to meet rising demand.
RAW Charging is proud to be part of this transformation, working with leading hospitality and leisure destinations such as National Trust, Merlin Entertainments, McArthurGlen, Greene King, and soon the Royal Horticultural Society to connect Amazing Places and deliver best-in-class charging solutions. With over 240 charging bays installed at National Trust sites alone, and major rollouts underway at RHS gardens, EV drivers can travel with confidence knowing that reliable charging is available at their favourite destinations.
Jason Simpson, CEO, commented:
“For the fourth year running, we’re delighted to celebrate World EV Day by offering free charging at our destination chargers across the UK. Last year, we saw a record number of sessions delivered on World EV Day, a testament to the growing importance of destination charging for drivers and the commitment of our partners to sustainability. We look forward to welcoming even more drivers to our network this World EV Day and continuing our mission to make EV charging accessible, convenient, and enjoyable for everyone.”
Melanie Shufflebotham, Co-founder & COO of Zapmap, added:
“When we celebrated World EV Day for the first time back in 2020, there were 20,965 charge points across the UK. We’re now at quadruple that figure, across the whole spectrum of destination, en-route and near-home sites. Not only that, but we also see utilisation rates climbing steadily. This year’s event is a great opportunity for EV drivers to check out a RAW Charging site that may be new to them, as well as for the EV curious to find out about the benefits of driving electric.”
