Visitors to RHS Garden Rosemoor can now take advantage of newly installed electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities, as part of a wider initiative to provide sustainable solutions across all RHS gardens.

Rosemoor, located in the North Devon Torridge Valley, has introduced a total of eight EV charging bays, including both fast (up to 22kW) and rapid (up to 50kW) chargers. In celebration of the new chargers, a special launch event is taking place from Tuesday 18th August to Thursday 20th August, offering visitors the opportunity to enjoy free charging during this period.

This installation is part of a wider sustainability programme to install 90 charge points across all five RHS gardens, delivered in partnership with RAW Charging, and forms part of the RHS's broader sustainability agenda, contributing to its ambition of becoming climate positive by 2030.

Malcolm Anderson, Head of Sustainability at the RHS, said:

"This initiative aligns with our commitment to sustainability and enhancing the visitor experience. By installing 90 EV charging bays across our five iconic gardens, we are making it easier for our visitors to enjoy their time with us whilst reducing the carbon emissions associated with travel by private car. This complements our ongoing work on increasing accessibility to our gardens via active travel and public transport."

Fast chargers are ideal for visitors spending a few hours at Rosemoor, allowing most EVs to recharge in around 4-5 hours – perfect for a day spent exploring the 65-acre garden. For those visiting on a tighter schedule, the rapid chargers offer the flexibility to fully charge an EV in just 1-2 hours. All chargers accept contactless payment and can be operated via a user-friendly app.

The latest installation forms part of the Connecting Amazing Places campaign, which sees chargers installed at a range of destinations including those operated by the RHS, the National Trust and Merlin Entertainments, such as Alton Towers and Chessington World of Adventures. It also follows the receipt of the Zapmap Best Network Award for 2026 and ICC Gold accreditation, awarded in late 2025.

To charge for free, customers must sign up to RAW Rewards via the website. Free charging is only available via the ChargePoint App and not via contactless payment.
