Electric vehicle drivers in Surrey can power up for free for one week this month as RHS Garden Wisley celebrates the opening of its new flagship charging hub with a week of complimentary charging for all visitors.

The new facility, launched in partnership with RAW Charging, is now live and will offer a full week of free EV charging from Monday 24th to Friday 28th August. The initiative is designed to reward environmentally conscious drivers and make it easier for local members and day-trippers to top up while enjoying one of the UK’s most iconic gardens.

As one of the largest destination EV charging hubs in the Guildford and Wisley area, the site features 32 dedicated bays. This includes 24 fast charging bays (up to 22kW), which are ideal for visitors spending several hours exploring the garden, and 8 rapid charging bays (up to 50kW) for those looking for a quicker battery boost.

Conveniently located just off Junction 10 of the M25, the hub provides a significant upgrade to local public charging options. The installation, providing 90 charging bays across the five UK RHS gardens, is a key milestone in the RHS’s goal to be climate positive by 2030.

These improvements not only support lower-carbon travel but also enhance the experience for today’s environmentally conscious visitors."

The charging bays are designed for ease of use. While they typically accept contactless payment, the free charging offer is available exclusively via the RAW Rewards programme to ensure local drivers can make the most of the launch celebration.

The latest installation forms part of the Connecting Amazing Places campaign, which sees charging bays installed at destinations including those operated by the RHS, the National Trust and Merlin Entertainments, such as Alton Towers and Chessington World of Adventures.

The installation makes it easier for local residents and day-trippers to travel more sustainably while also helping the RHS on its journey to becoming climate positive by 2030. It also follows the receipt of the Zapmap Best Destination Network Award for 2026 and ICC Gold accreditation, awarded in late 2025.

To claim free charging during the launch week, customers must sign up to RAW Rewards. Free charging is accessed via the ChargePoint App and is not available via contactless payment.
