PRESS: RAW Charging announces new contract to deliver EV Charging across National Trust places
RAW Charging, one of the largest UK providers of electric vehicle charging solutions and infrastructure for the UK’s net zero future, is pleased to announce a new contract with the National Trust to install electric vehicle charging for visitors to the Trust’s iconic locations across the UK.

- Over the next three years, RAW will work closely with National Trust to develop and install EV charging at suitable sites across the Trust’s portfolio in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, ensuring the location and design sympathetically integrates the infrastructure into its environment.
- Each location will be equipped with a number of charging bays, supporting visitors to make more sustainable journeys to National Trust places.
- The layout of the EV charging bays at all sites have been designed to improve accessibility for all drivers and passengers.
- RAW will invest up to £12 million in the rollout as it continues to support the demand for destination charging.
Most chargers will be AC destination chargers allowing visitors to charge for half a day or more spent enjoying National Trust’s estates, houses and gardens. However, DC rapid charging hubs will be made available at a small number of National Trust places where the visit time is shorter than standard, or if the location is convenient for drivers to charge during a short break from longer journeys. Once complete, the rollout is expected to be one of RAW’s largest, investing up to £12 million in the project.
With an estimated 45% of drivers needing to charge their EV’s away from home, EV charging is a valuable addition to National Trust places across the UK. Drivers will be able to charge their car whilst spending time at National Trust places, which include sites of historic interest together with many AONB locations. RAW is working with the National Trust to make sure that the infrastructure is sensitive to its unique environment.
As the UK gears up for the government ban of sales of new diesel and petrol cars in 2030, it is time for businesses to play a key role in delivering destination charging to help aid the transition to EVs. As we see more EVs on the roads ahead of the transition, the UK will become more reliant on destination charging which is an easy, affordable and reliable way for drivers to charge up whilst away from home.
RAW has recently launched charging facilities at the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet York, Crown Point Shopping Park in Leeds and has announced plans for a new ChargeYard in Oxford as part of a sponsorship with Oxford City Football Club. RAW has also launched the Charge Yard facility in Slough and is exclusively working with Greene King to install EV Charging across their sites in the UK. RAW works with a variety of businesses looking to offer EV charging and looks to continue delivering destination charging across the UK and Europe.
